The ministry of internal affairs through the Uganda Police Force wants to recruit 50,000 Special Police Constables to serve for 3 months.

The recruitment exercise is targeting Ugandan citizens between 18-40 years of age.

According to AIGP Jesse Kamunanwire, who issued the recruitment call on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, said successful candidates will work from their respective districts of residence.

To apply, one should have a valid national ID, at least an 'O' level certificate or its equivalent, and ready to work for long hours "and at times under difficult conditions".

Applications will be handwritten and sent to District/Division Police Commanders and on them, applicants have been asked to attach a photocopy of a National ID, a recent passport photo, and recommendation letters from LCI, LCII, LCIII and GISO.

The deadline for application is November 1, 2020. They will be paid Shs375,200 per month.

This is the second recruitment exercise police has announced this year and in the first round they were recruiting Probationary Police Constables (PPCs) who will start training at Kabale Police Training School in November.

Police Spokesman Fred Enanga has said they'll be used to reinforce the law enforcement agency during the 2021 elections.

Campaigns will start on January 1, 2021.
