The Cooper Motor Corporation (CMC) has extended a 25% discount on its TT40 tractor to farmers attending the the Harvest Money expo at Namboole.
According to Simon Mugerwa, the brand Manager New Holland tractors, the discount is meant to encourage farmers especially the new entrants in the agricultural sector to embrace mechanized farming.
“Many young professionals are scared of joining the farming sector because of the high price of agricultural equipment and as the distributors of New Holland tractors in Uganda we thought that the only way to help such young farmers is to give them a discount on our TT40 tractors,” Mugerwa said.
He explained that farmers who will have registered with the New Holland team at the Harvest Money expo in Namboole will enjoy the offer even after the expo. Moses Mugeni, the sales executive New Holland tractor says they have partnered with a wide range of banks to ease the purchase of farmers.
“We have made partnerships with different banks to ensure that farmers can easily access financing opportunities,” Mugeni said.
Government through the National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) recently bought 110 New Holland tractors for farmer groups across the country. The tractors according to the Agriculture Minister, Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja the tractors are aimed at boosting mechanization and improving farm productivity.
The tractors and implements will be delivered to the beneficiaries before the end of the 2018/2019 Financial year. The New Holland tractors come in a wide range of Horse Powers including 40,60, 65, 75, 80, 90 and 100.
