Sadolin Paint Uganda has held a one-day seminar in Kampala to sensitise architectural painters to the need for the observance of high professional standards in the discharge of their contracts.

Akzonobel Commercial Director for East Africa, Deon Nieuwoudt, who led the discussions and demonstrations said the training session was geared at facilitating, guiding and providing up-to-date technical advise and tips for painters.  It attracted painters from Kampala and other parts of the country. The training took place on Wednesday at Hotel Africana.

"One of the objectives of the training programme is to help to develop the painter’s knowledge of basic paint systems," Mr Nieuwoudt said.

It was also to help improve their understanding of the tools of application, the characteristics of substrates (substances that are acted upon by certain organisms) as well as the preparation of surfaces for painting. The seminar gave the painters the opportunity to learn how to apply a wide range of products and understand the application properties.

Mr Nieuwoudt further noted that Uganda's estate development sector was growing, "And there is the need to inject a high level of professionalism into the painting aspect of the housing industry, hence the importance of the training programme".

He said the decorative coatings (painting) seminar was also in line with the company's policy to help protect human lives, as well as the environment through the marketing of top quality products such as the Sadolin Wallguard and Rainshield brands which were cost effective and environmentally friendly.

Mr. Ashish Devani, the Sadolin Head of Sales said that the Sadolin brand aims to enrich the lives and skills of painters in Uganda who play a key role in the building and construction industry in the country.

“We are very thrilled and honoured to have this level of global expertise available for the painters this year. Our team has always strived to educate, inform and teach the painters the best practice offered worldwide and we intend to continue to do so,” Mr Deveni said.

Sadolin is a brand of Akzonobel, one of the global leaders in decorative paints and the largest manufacturer of performance coatings.
