COSAFA U17 Girls: Uganda Scores 20 Goals against Comoros

Uganda U-17 Girls’ national team continued its winning ways on Tuesday by beating Comoros 20-0 in the ongoing Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) U17 Girls Championship.
The game was played at the Anjalay Stadium in Mauritius. This was Uganda’s last Group stage game (Group A) as they topped the table with seven points and a 32, 11 goal difference to Zambia which has the same points.
The Crested Cranes U17 team had on Sunday walloped hosts Mauritius 11-0 in the previous game. Skipper Juliet Nalukenge continued her scoring spree at the tournament, netting seven goals this time round to take her goal tally to 15 and regain the lead in the top scorers’ race.
She scored two hat tricks last time. Nalukenge was once again named player of the match. Margaret Kunihira scored five goals while Fauzia Najjemba and Shakira Nyinagahirwa added a double brace (four goals) and a hat-trick respectively.Defender Gillian Akandinda scored one as Uganda led 14-0 at half time.
Immediately after the break, Uganda’s tactician Ayub Khalifa made a double change in the shape of Sumayah Komuntale for Shakirah Nyinagahirwa and Moureen Nangonzi for Kevin Naklacwa. In the 70th minute, Catherine Nagadya came in for Samali Nakacwa. The goal scoring party continued after the first interval and Comoros had nowhere to hide. Uganda will face Botswana on Friday in the semi-finals.
