Police in Kagadi have rounded up 11 suspects in connection to the murder of a supermarket attendant in Kagadi town.
Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine region police Spokesperson says the suspects have been arrested to help investigations into the murder of 23year old Rebecca Wekisa who was stabbed to death on Thursday night on her way back home from work.
Wekisa, a resident of Kyenganju Ward in Kagadi Town Council, was murdered near Kagadi Taxi Park at around 11:45pm.The assailants used a knife to stab the victim to death.
“One Wekisa Rebecca female adult aged 23yrs, a supermarket attendant, a resident of Kyengaju ward, kagadi TC, kagadi district, was waylaid going home by foot after work and murdered by stabbing around the lower abdomen,” Hakiza told Kampala Post on Friday.
The body was recovered by residents who reported the matter to police.
The suspects are now being detained at Kagadi Police station as inquiries continue.
The motive of the murder is not yet known but police say, preliminary inquiries point to strong resistance put up by the deceased towards her attackers prompting them to stab her.
The body lies at Kagadi Hospital Mortuary pending postmortem.
