Four Arrested for Vandalizing New Electricity Power Lines

Police in Greater Masaka have arrested four suspects in connection with vandalizing new electricity power lines.

The suspects; Vincent Byansi, David Kayondo, Benon Natukunda and Edison Kamugisha all from Lyantonde were arrested from Malongo Subcounty in Lwengo district, where they had reportedly cut the new electricity transmission line wire cables.

The gang was travelling in a motor vehicle Reg. No. UAZ 161Q, a Toyota wish at the time of arrest. Police also recovered a bundle of the wire cables the suspects had cut, being transported in the car. The culprits are now being detained at Lwengo Central Police Station pending court charges.

According to Greater Masaka Region Police Spokesperson Lameck Kigozi, the suspects face charges related to sabotaging the government’s Rural Electrification Program.
