Police in Kampala have arrested a man for vandalizing and stealing valuable equipment belonging to National Water and Sewage Cooperation (NWSC).
The suspect who was identified as Kamugisha Kenneth was arrested during a Police operation which was headed by the OC Kiwologoma C/ASP Twesigomwe Edward at around 11pm on Saturday.
”Kamugisha revealed to our team that he had been initiated into the deal of stealing this equipment by his friend who works as a casual labourer at the National Water and Sewage Cooperation Kyaliwajala Branch,” reads a statement from Police.
The suspect revealed to Police that the stolen equipment is worth Shs3M on market.
“The suspect is being charged with theft of national water equipment and is to be tried at Buganda Road Utility Court where all cases relating to National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) are handled,” the statement adds.
Meanwhile, Police in Kampala have also arrested a man and recovered an AK47 with two magazines containing 58 rounds of ammunition.
Police say the suspect identified as Henry Drici, 25, from Laropi village in Moyo District who was traveling by Divine Bus was arrested after a tip-off from Police lookout teams at Namayiba Bus Terminal on Sunday at about 11am.
The operation was led by the DPC Old Kampala, ASP Nyangoma Grace, with the help of Flying Squad Unit (FSU) operatives.
Police say that Drici has since been transferred to Flying Squad offices for further questioning.
