Defence Ministry Hailed for Giving Equal Opportunities, Staff Undergo Training
The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) commended the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs (MODVA) for providing equal opportunities to all eligible beneficiaries during planning and budgeting.
Officials from the Commission were Thursday training staff from MODVA on gender and equity planning and budgeting at the ministry headquarters in Kampala.
At the end of the two-day training (19-20th October 2021) training, Julius Kamya, the commissioner for Education and Communication at the EOC noted that availing equal opportunities to all gender whenever deployments are done unmasks the hidden potential in some individuals.
"If we all consider gender and equity when planning and budgeting, our country will prosper in all sectors," said Kamya.
He encouraged the appreciation of people with uniqueness, adding that the selective treatment of workers should be abolished.
He further called for the equitable distribution of opportunities so that everyone gets a platform in the transformation of society.
The MODVA Human Resource Commissioner Alfred Cox Anguzu lauded the EOC for bridging the training gap at the Defence Ministry. He called for the continuous provision of equal opportunities at all MODVA chieftaincies, directorates and departments.
