KAMPALA. President Yoweri Museveni has renewed the contract of Professor Wasswa Balunywa as the Principal of Makerere University Business School (MUBS).

In a letter dated May 28th, 2018, addressing to the Minister of Education and Sports and First Lady, Hon. Janet Museveni, the President ordered for immediate re-appointment of Prof. Balunywa as MUBS Principal.

“I am writing to direct you to re-appoint Professor Wasswa Balunywa as the Principal of Makerere University Business School (MUBS) for another term on the expiry of this one. One of the obstacles that have wasted our time is a disorientated, pro-imperialism academia,” President Museveni noted.

The President said that Professor Balunywa has always been on the liberation side ideology in addition to being an active administrator.

“His institution has been free of strike. I have never found averse to advice the times I have interacted with him. Such a person is always good to work with,” Mr. Museveni added.

This comes hours after MUBS council had resolved to appoint Prof. Moses Muhwezi as the acting principal in an emergency meeting held at the University on Monday.

Prof. Muhwezi was appointed by the council following the expiry of Prof. Balunywa’s contract on May 27, 2018 a position he held since 2003.
