Gen Kainerugaba Welcomes New UPDF Changes

President Yoweri Museveni who is also the Commander-In-Chief of the armed forces has appointed Maj Gen Don William Nabasa as the new commander of Military Police replacing Brig Keith Katungi.

Maj Gen Nabasa has been serving as the UPDF contingent commander in Somalia under the Africa Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).

Brig Keith Katungi who has been the commander of military police will now replace Maj Gen Nabasa as the contingent commander in Somalia.

The Commander Land Forces who is also the Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations welcomed the changes.

"I'm very happy that Afande CDF and the Commander in Chief have confirmed these appointments; Maj. Gen. Nabasa as Comd MP and Brig. Katungi as the CONTICO Mogadishu. Both officers are excellent examples of the best of UPDF. Hongera ndugu zangu!" Gen Kainerugaba tweeted Tuesday morning. 

Brig Katungi assumed the office of Military Police Commander in August 2020 when he took over from Brig William Bainomugisha at the Makindye based cantonment.

Meanwhile, Gen Nabasa assumed the office as sector one commander in December 2020 having succeeded Brig Richard Otto.
