The outgoing Commandant of the Military Police and newly appointed Deputy Inspector General of Police Brig Sabiiti Muzei has led the blood donation drive in Military Police barracks and donated blood responding to the blood shortage crisis announced by Ministry of Health.
The drive which was conducted on Monday ended when a total of 500 units of blood were collected from only Military Police soldiers in Makindye barracks.
Brig Muzei encouraged the public to donate blood and save Ugandans in need of blood like pregnant mothers, accident victims, patients and children.
He noted with concern that there's no factory that manufactures blood in the whole world and appealed to the Ugandans with good health to join the noble cause.
Brig Muzei said that blood is very important to all of us regardless of what class u are.
The head of blood transfusion team, Nurse Asha Shamila Agip thanked Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) for the quick response and applauded the discipline the soldiers exhibit while doing their work.
She appealed to the UPDF leadership to respond whenever there is need for blood.
