Uganda will on March 8 join the rest of the world to commemorate the International Women’s Day (IWD). International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.

According to the Minister for ICT and National Guidance Judith Nabakooba, the main event will be held at State House Entebbe under the Theme “Building on Women’s Strength for a Better Future in a COVID-19 World”.

The minister says the event, which will be graced by President Yoweri Museveni, will “be held scientifically” as per Covid-19 guidelines issued by the health ministry.

Uganda has so far confirmed 40154 cases of Covid-19, with 331 people succumbing to the respiratory illness. 14569 recoveries have been recorded.
