Uganda Police Force has disregarded false information spreading on social media that the IGP Martin Okoth Ochola is critically ill.
In a statement issued by the Police Spokesperson, Fred Enanga, IGP Ochola is in good health and is not hospitalized or even on oxygen as alleged by some elements of people on social media.
"We do reiterate that the IGP is not hospitalized as claimed in certain media circles. He is in good condition with back to normal pressure level and has been working throughout the month of September," Enanga said.
Enanga admits that whereas the IGP developed some bit of hypertension after hearing with the shock about the death of former IGP Deputy IGP Paul Lokech last month, his condition was not life threatening and that he has since stabilized after being "effectively managed by both his personal doctor and Police surgeon."
"Therefore, we would like to caution media actors on the importance of sticking to credible, reliable and factual sources of information. And avoid deliberate manipulations, that are speculative and misleading to the public," he said.
