The Executive Director of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Dorothy Kisaka hosted the new United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Country Representative for Uganda Nwanne Vwede-Obahor to discuss ongoing collaborations and future initiatives aimed at transforming the city.

During the introductory meeting held at the KCCA Employment Services Bureau, Kisaka highlighted the significant support UNDP has provided to various projects, particularly in empowering young people and women.

She emphasized KCCA's dedication to enhancing education, healthcare, youth skilling programs, and market infrastructure within Kampala.

Notably, UNDP's contribution to the lighting and paving of the St Balikuddembe (Owino) market was acknowledged as a successful partnership venture. Also, the support to youth skilling programs was highly appreciated.

Expressing her enthusiasm, Nwanne praised KCCA's management of the city's complexities and stressed the importance of collaborative efforts, especially in initiatives impacting women in markets and youth empowerment.

She commended KCCA for its proactive approach in identifying projects that directly benefit the community.

Rosebell Twinomujuni, Supervisor of Employment Services at KCCA, lauded the passion exhibited by both Kisaka and the UNDP Country Director for youth and women empowerment.

The meeting underscored a mutual commitment to expanding collaborations, with a focus on leveraging opportunities in ICT to empower the youth, acknowledging it as a vital sector for future growth and employment.

The partnership between KCCA and UNDP reflects a shared vision of creating a sustainable impact and reaching a wider demographic in Kampala, underscoring the potential for further transformative projects and initiatives on the horizon.
