All roads will Saturday lead to Speke Resort Munyonyo for the famous Royal Ascot Goat Race.
The goat contest which was first hosted in 2012 returns with a series of fun-filled activities such as a silent disco, chill-out lounges for revelers to mingle, a kids’ play area in addition to the hospitality tents.
Apparently, sources have intimated that tickets that run for Shs50,000 have been a sell out as Ugandan revelers blow their fingers in anticipation for the big do.
During the launch last month, Sheena Ruparelia, the coordinator of the Goat Race event promised the best of the best goat race.
“The Goat Races were easily the most popular event on Uganda’s social calendar for all the time they were held, so we wanted to bring that amazing experience back with fun-filled activities everyone can participate in,” she said.
“Our focus is on the races and activities around that, but there will be hospitality tents available, a food court with up to 10 types of cuisines; a beer garden, cocktail and champagne bars, sport games, silent disco areas, and chill-out lounges.”
The goat races will entail six races over the course of the day, with each race featuring 10 goats. According to Sheena, anyone can sponsor a race, or buy a goat to participate in a race. The proceeds generated from the races will then go to a selected charity.
