On Valentine’s Day as a norm, some people are ready to spend money on services and atmosphere to spend the love day with their loved ones. But come to think of it, it is not a must to go out there and spend tones of money on just a single evening.
Yes, every good thing looks costly but there is another way to enjoy this day without spending too much. Most people may not have an idea of how to dodge the exorbitant hotel prices but even a home can be given a clean resort feel by transforming it all around in another romantic setting.
Utilize your home
Make something from the heart (it's the perfect combination of a Valentine's Day gift that's inexpensive but meaningful). Make a collage of your favourite photos as a couple or photos from different stages of your relationship. Learn how to preserve old photos. Burn a mix CD of his or her favourite songs.
Organize a gift basket filled with notes or trinkets referencing inside jokes. Creativity is one of the most sincere ways to say “I love you.” Set this in your living room and have a blast meditating on the good things you have achieved together.
No matter how long you have been together, you do not have to go out and splurge on expensive places and materials. Sometimes the most appreciated gifts are cheap of even free. Like a back massage!
Also the pleasure to buy expensive gifts or even having to contemplate on what exactly to buy can be stressful and time consuming. What about when you prepare your significant nice meal? You can borrow the idea of the favourite meal you usually eat out together and prepare it at home.
There are small crucial things like sticking affirmation notes on your partner’s mirror reminding them of how much you love them, what you love about them and more. This can be done early in the morning and it will be a surprise as they wake up to such beautiful notes. Y’all don’t break banks; this can be done at home.
When your sweetie gets home, draw a hot bath filled with rose petals. (Since roses are so expensive around Valentine’s Day, you can ask your florist for a package of plain rose petals, short stemmed roses, or for "seconds" ones that are slightly bruised since you won't be giving them in a traditional way).
Have a glass of wine and some chocolates to nibble on by the side of the bathtub. Meanwhile, prepare the bedroom. Line the bed with towels fresh out of the dryer so that they're warm. Get a basin full of warm water near the bed, several washcloths, and some great spa products.
Start off with an exfoliating rub, wash that away, then massage with a great body moisturizer. You might also want to throw in a foot rub for extra brownie points. (Many people have creams and exfoliating rubs at home already; you don't have to spend extra money on this step). Afterwards, the two of you can enjoy takeout in bed while you watch a romantic movie.
Not a bad idea to involve the kids
Kids are never a big threat when you prepare to involve them on your valentine’ day plan. With kids, everything is fun especially when you do things together like cooking, creating love cards. You can also snuggle in with a family movie together. With the kids, you can get involved in charity and giving to the community and later go get cosy in your bedroom alone.
Happy valentine to y’ all.
