KAMPALA. Uganda Music Star Bebe Cool has bragged about his nomination in the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) saying being the only male nominee from Uganda is victory already.

Bebe Cool who heads the Gagamel Entertainment group was nominated for the Best Male East African Artiste alongside Tanzania's star, Diamond Platnumz.

In a social media post on Saturday, Bebe Cool said he is already a winner by a mere fact that he is the only male artiste nominated from Uganda and doesn't mind losing to an "East African brother."

He was responding to social media attacks by some music lovers who threatened not to vote for him on grounds that he recently supported government introduction of the social media tax.

"I am already a winner, why? In the AFRIMA Awards slated for next weekend in Ghana there is only one male Ugandan nominee," Bebe Cool said in response, imploring those attacking him to always "use brains not only to think but also to digest issues."

On threats by some Ugandans to vote for his competitor Diamond Platnumz, Bebe Cool said, "My President Yoweri Museveni and his counterparts are building one East Africa, so if it's competition between East Africans and it's an East African brother winning, sorry ,I am okay with that."

Bebe Cool was of recent attacked on stage by revelers and continues to face social media trolling because of his political opinions against his music nemesis, now turned politician Bobi Wine. Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine) now Kyadondo East Member of Parliament has been selected as one of the panelists at the AFRIMA Business Summit, during which the awarding ceremony will take place, November 21-24 in Accra Ghana.

There has been social media debate on how the music rivals Bebe Cool and Bobi Wine will meet at the same event. While others thought that Bobi could influence the awarding process, AFRIMA officials have stated that the artiste turned politician has only been invited to speak at the business summit and has nothing to do with the awards ceremony, which already has an independent jury.
