Edwin Ruyonga has said that he sees no difference between Jesus and Prophet Elvis Mbonye.
This was contained in a Tuesday social media posting in which the rapper sought to convey birthday wishes to Mbonye whom he described as his father.
“I see no difference between my father Prophet Elvis Mbonye and Jesus, really. Happy Birthday Greatest Prophet of our generation, an awesome revelation of our Lord and King Jesus,” the rapper posted.
Ruyonga came to the limelight after releasing Tutuuse alongside Don Mc in 2012. But Ruyonga has since quit mainstream rapping to concentrate on Christian and social conscious music.
Last year, Joseph Kabuleta, a senior sports journalist shocked the country when he kissed Mbonye’s shoes. The picture went viral.
Like Kabuleta, Ruyonga’s act has drawn harsh criticism from members of the public especially on social media.
Some criticized Ruyonga for reducing the worth of Jesus, saying that Mbonye is an ordinary son of man and his mother was not a virgin like Jesus’ mother Mary.
Others suggested that Mbonye should be crucified like jesus was to see if he would rise from the dead.
Natulinda Clare posted: “Let's wait for Friday we crucify him and see his resurrection.nye nyering just”.
