It was criminal acts and immorality that reigned at Bobi Wine’s Kyarenga concert on Saturday at his one love beach in Busabala.
It is no surprise that over 80 hooligans were rounded up by the police as they engaged in smoking marijuana, pickpocketing, and fighting and being public nuisances among other social offenses. However, Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman Luke Owoyesigire now says the police is holding 27 suspects who are being questioned.
This was in spite of guidelines issued by the police prior to the concert.
According to police, the suspects are detained at Kabalagala and Katwe police divisions.
Several people have taken to social media to express their disappointment at musician turned politician Bobi Wine for promoting criminality among his fans and supporters, most of who are said to be part of the so called ‘fire base army’.
Meanwhile, as he performed on stage Bobi Wine’s elder brother Eddie Yawe’s backup singer stripped naked as Yawe performed his “Tukigale” song. This infuriated revelers, with some of them blaming Bobi Wine and his group for not giving prior instructions to the performers.
Meanwhile people who lost their valuables during the event claim that some of those who robbed them were members of Bobi Wine’s inner circle especially from Kamwokya.
“It would have been worse if police had not deployed, people were being robbed as the so called Bobi Wine Kanyamas (Bouncers) looked on,” said one of the revelers only identified as John.
It is however not surprising that such acts of criminality, lawlessness and immorality would prevail at Bobi Wine’s concert given his background.
Bobi Wine who has publicly confessed to smoking marijuana, has filmed some of his music videos smoking.
Recently, Apostle Grace Lubega condemned Bobi Wine’s actions, urging Christians to rise up and inspire the nation.
Lubega, a youthful preacher said that although Bobi Wine has been able to succeed as a musician, he failed to change his ghetto communities.
