
Museveni’s first journey to Kampala as president-elect
President Museveni is today returning to Kampala for the first time since he was elected president, the presidency announced via social media.
President Museveni won almost 59% of the vote, beating his 10 competitors in the election held on Jan. 14.
The journey from his country home in Rwakitura will be aired on UBC TV, the national broadcaster, and some other TV stations, according to the social media post.
According to government spokesman Ofwono Opondo, the president-elect will make stop-overs at different locations, including Lyantonde at 12pm, Kyazannga (1pm), Lukaya (2pm), Kayabwe (3pm), Mpigi (4pm) and Busega at 5pm.
He will be at the City Square in Kampala at 6pm.
Museveni is expected to be sworn-in in May.
