KAMPALA. A Cabinet meeting chaired by President Museveni on Monday agreed to disband or merge dozens of agencies in an ongoing reorganisation aimed at cost effectiveness and prevention of duplication of roles and wastage of public resources.
Vice President Edward Ssekandi and Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda spearheaded the review of government agencies that are believed to have been a burden to taxpayers.
Some of the merged agencies include Uganda National Roads Authority which has been collapsed into a department under the Ministry of Works and Transport.
Last month, the Executive Director of UNRA, Allen Kagina called for calm and continued commitment from her staff following reports of collapsing the agency into a department.
