President Yoweri Museveni has ordered Police and Courts of Law to stop giving bond and bail respectively to suspected murderers.
This Presidential directive is meant to bring Justice and curb rampant murders that last week climaxed with the assassination of Arua Municipality MP Ibrahim Abiriga.
MP Abiriga was killed by unknown assassins who are said to have been riding on a motorcycle that ambushed him while on his way back home on Friday evening.
The legislator was killed together with his bodyguard, Saidi Kongo who is also his biological brother.
While attending Abiriga’s burial on Monday, Museveni said that the legislator’s murderers are ‘Pigs’ who will be defeated.
During the National Budget Day reading on Thursday, Museveni reechoed his earlier statements saying, “I am confident we are going to defeat these pigs.”
“This is a biblical statement not my words. Mathew 7:6 says that, ‘…do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.’ Instead of giving pigs gold, give it earth worm. It (Pig) doesn’t see any value in gold. We have dealt with pigs before and these are even smaller ones,” tough-speaking Museveni started.
He added, “All those involved [in murders] will be exposed and crashed. Recently I talked of somebody who touched the [leopard’s anus].”
Museveni directed IGP Okot Ochola and Chief Justice Bart Katureebe to stop giving police bond and court bail to suspected killers.
“There are two things I will not accept anymore; Police bond and bail. I don’t want to hear of Police bond. If you are suspected of killing innocent people, there is no bond for you. Then the other issue is bail. Bail for killers is not acceptable,” Museveni said.
