Napak Distict LC5 Chairperson Joseph Lomonyang has been elected as the President of Uganda Local Government Association (ULGA).
Lomonyang replaces Lwengo district Chaiman George Mutabazi, who pulled out of the race in his favour.
This took place on Monday at Leslona hotel, Moroto during the 25th annual General Meeting of local government leaders.
Lomonyang emerged the winner after defeating Mityana district LC5 chairman Joseph Luzige with 140 votes against 123 votes.
The other three candidates including the outgoing president Mutabazi, Katakwi District Chairperson, Elakas Walter Okiring and Kabalore LC5 chairman Richard Rwabuhinga pulled out of the race at the last minute.
