GOMBA. United States Ambassador to Uganda, Ms. Deborah Malac has expressed the American Government’s appreciation to the Government of Uganda for the support and contribution to political stability in the region.
President Yoweri Museveni was meeting Ambassador Malac, who led a delegation that comprised, among others, the US-AFRICOM Force, Gen. Thomas Waldhauser. The meeting that took place on Tuesday at the President's farm in Kisozi, Gomba district discussed regional issues.
During the meeting, the President saluted his Sudanese counterpart Omar al Bashir for the tremendous initiative and role played in the peace process in neighbouring South Sudan.
“The course for the stability of South Sudan seems to be moving. This time, Bashir has played a very big role,” he said.
Mr. Museveni observed that once South Sudan political leaders comprehensively agree on the peace process, over one million South Sudan refugees would return to their mother country by next year in time to start producing food during the rainy season.
The Commandant of the Rapid Deployment and Capability Centre, Gen. Nikibus Lakara, attended the meeting.
