A self-styled spiritual leader and the founder of the “Faith of Unity” religion Owobusobozi Desteo Bisaka has rallied support for the proposed Constitutional Amendment Bill 2017 that seeks among other the lifting of presidential age limits.
Donned in a white gown, Owobusobozi Bisaka explains that article 102 (b) should be amended to allow President Yoweri Museveni and other Ugandans to stand for the office of the President without the limitation of the 75-year upper cap and 35-year lower cap.
Owobusobozi Bisaka particularly noted that President Museveni should have another chance to run in 2021 so that the country can continue enjoying the peace, unity and coexistence brought by the National Resistance Movement government.
The influential spiritual leader said this on Sunday at the Faith of Unity headquarters Kapyemi, Muhooro, Kagadi District where his followers had paid him homage to thank him for his blessings.
The followers “Abakwenda” from Kyenzige, Kagadi were accompanied by Buyaga East Member of Parliament Eric Musana Achali.
The Bill tabled before Parliament by Igara West Member of Parliament Raphael Magezi early this month is currently being scrutinized by the legal and parliamentary affairs committee
According to Owobusozi Bisaka, he does not see any reason as to why the constitution should not be amended and asked his follows to pray for the country to ensure the Bill passes through peacefully.
The remarks by Owobusobozi Bisaka attracted applause from his followers who tasked their Member of Parliament, Musana to take the Owobusobozi’s massage serious as they also vowed to mobilize Ugandans to support the Bill.
Speaking at the same function, Musana promised to deliver the massage to Parliament saying their cardinal aim as NRM legislatures to change the constitution is to ensure that President Museveni get an opportunity of standing for presidency in 2021.
During the function, Owobusobozi confirmed other 358 believers at the level of Baheereza into the faith of his religion.
The Faith of Unity is said to have over 5 million followers from Uganda, Congo, South Sudan, Tanzania and Rwanda.
A former catechist in the Catholic Church, Bisaka 87 formed his own religion in 1981 naming it “Faith of Unity”
Bisaka is an influential leader in Bunyoro region where local people seek blessings and advise to progress in their endeavors.
