Parliament Vets new Appointees of Public Service Commission

The Parliamentary Committee on Appointments chaired by Speaker Annet Anita Among has on Friday vetted new appointees of the Public Service Commission (PSC).

President Yoweri Museveni on 6th June 2022 appointed the new members of PSC with Winnie Agnes Kabogoza Musoke as the new chairperson of the Commission, replacing Justice Ralph Ochan who has been serving since 2014. Kabogoza will be deputized by Francis Oryang Lagony who was also serving as a member.

The new appointees appeared before the Appointments committee for vetting. According to a source, all the appointees were successfully vetted.

Other new members of the Commission include; Grace Tubwita, Hajat Kamulegeya Jamillah, Michael Mugisa, Titus Kisambira Mutanda, Emmanuel Olaunah Ourum and Adah Kabarokole Muwanga.

On the sidelines of the vetting session, Kabogoza thanked the President for the vote of confidence and pledged to serve with diligence and integrity. Kabogoza who comes at a time when civil servants including teachers are on industrial action over salary disparities, says she is committed to strengthen public service and fight for the review of terms and conditions of the public servants.

“Together with my team and other sister commissions, we want to see that we review and give public servants better terms of service especially in terms of pay so that we recruit and maintain a competent and professional public service,” Kabogoza told the media.

Public Service Commission that is established under Article 165 of the Constitution is mandated to among others to appoint, promote and exercise disciplinary control over persons holding office in the public service, review the terms and conditions of service, standing orders, training and qualifications of public officers and matters connected with personnel management and development of the public service and make recommendations on them to the Government.
