Pastor Bugingo to Museveni: Gen Kainerugaba's Presidency is Inevitable
Pastor Aloysius Bugingo declared his outright support for Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba's presidential ambitions.
The House of Prayer Ministries said the former Land Forces Commander will become Uganda's president when President Yoweri Museveni finally bows out.
The 50-year-old Man of God, who was speaking during a church service, said that his support for Gen. Kainerugaba doesn't imply he no longer believes in President Yoweri Museveni's leadership.
"Your excellency, the president of the Republic of Uganda, let no one lie to you that Bugingo no longer supports you and that he now supports Muhoozi. If I told you that I don't like Muhoozi, I would be mischievous," Bugingo said.
"You'll resign when you are ready, but Muhoozi is next."
Gen. Kainerugaba, who is the presidential advisor on Special Operations, started by overtly hinting at presidential ambitions until last year when numerous functions were held in honor of his birthday and talk about him running for the biggest office in the East African nation heated up.
The idea of Gen. Kainerugaba running for the presidency in 2026 has ruffled feathers even in the NRM where seasoned members already seem rattled, utilizing every opportunity to tell people that President Museveni will run again in the coming elections.
President Museveni is yet to declare his stance, nor has Gen. Kainerugaba unequivocally stated whether he will be running.
