The Police rectification campaign has now been moved to Albertine Region.
The national wide campaign started early this year and it aims at boosting personnel morale in the field, listen to challenges affecting their effective policing and also interact with the local community to get their views on how best the Police can improve to serve the people better.
The police reputation has been negative in recent years over acts of bribery and officers engaging in criminality, which has left several of them arrested. This rectification campaign is one of the measures the current police leadership is taking to check the problem.
The rectification team has so far covered regions like East Kyoga, Aswa, Sezibwa, and Greater Bushenyi among others. The team is headed by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Simon Peter Wafana, the Police Head Manpower Audit and Verification has started with Kiryandongo district.
The team will later move to Masindi district. Other officers on the team include; SSP Christopher Kwerit, the Head of Political Education under Chief Political Commissariat), SSP Paul Wamala from Logistics and Engineering, officers from Exodus SACCO, Welfare and Crime Intelligence.
