JINJA. The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has hailed Kyabazinga William Gabula Nadiope IV for making good friends for Busoga Kingdom from within and outside the country, adding that the King has been mobilizing for his people.
The Speaker singled out the Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba whom he thanked for being the Kyabazinga's friend.
Ms. Kadaga who spoke in Lusoga implored Gen Muhoozi and the Kyabazinga to strengthen their friendship for the good of the Busoga people and the Ugandans in general.
"I implore you to fortify your friendship so that whatever concerns you (Kyabazinga), concerns him (Gen Kainerugaba)" said Ms. Kadaga. The Speaker said this as Busoga Kingdom celebrated the Kyabazinga's 5th coronation anniversary event held in Butagaya sub-county in Jinja district on Friday.
After the function, Gen Kainerugaba expressed his gratitude for attending the function in a short message on twitter.
"...it was my great honour to join His Royal Highness William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV as he celebrated 5 years as Kyabazinga of Busoga. It was a very colourful ceremony." Gen Kainerugaba added in a subsequent tweet: "His Highness the Kyabazinga's 5th Coronation celebrations was truly a joyous event. I thank him and the great people of Busoga for inviting me. God bless Uganda!"
The Kyabazinga responded to this message: "Thank you once again for sharing this happy day with us, words cannot express the gratitude, you made us feel so loved."
Meanwhile, the Kyabazinga who arrived at the venue with Gen Kainerugaba first inspected stalls before the two walked around the venue as they greeted the thousands of people at the venue.
In his speech, Kyabazinga Gabula called upon his subjects to be industrious in all they do so as to further transform Busoga and the country at large.
He also asked the people of Busoga to be hardworking and support government programs that are aimed at helping the population. The Busoga King cited education, digital transformation and healthy living as important aspects that should be embraced among his people.
"I urge parents to send children to school so that we can develop Busoga. As the Kyabazingaship, we desire a population that is healthy, we have been treating our people with various sickness including high blood pressure, diabetes, Hepatitis B among others through health camps," the Kyabazinga noted.
Kyabazinga concluded by noting that Busoga has a number of avenues through which it can generate income to run the Kingdom.
"Busoga is very rich with many sub-counties, parishes, land, forests and houses which can give us money to run the activities of the Kyabazinga," said King Gabula, adding: "Lucky enough, we have a good relationship with the government, therefore, negotiations to return these resources to the kingdom should be stepped up so that we further develop Busoga."
