Ugandan long distance runner Timothy Tirotich on Wednesday claimed bronze at the men’s 10000m final at Africa Senior Athletics Championships 2018 that are currently underway in Lagos, Nigeria.

Tirotich earned this berth just on game day one of the event and with more competitions in the cabin.

Tirotich, 28, finished third with a winning time of 29:11.87.

Ethiopia’s Jemal Vimer Mekomnen emerged winner of this heat with a winning time of 29:08.01.

Another Ethiopian, Andamlak Belihu Berta emerged second and was one of the crown contestants at the race build up.

‘’I am happy for this achievement though the weather was too chilly for the race. It was really tough to chase Ethiopians but I believe next time I will emerge on top,’’ Tirotich told reporters.

The Nigeria’s do is the first time ever Tirotich has earned a podium finish at both Continental and International levels.

He also added that he was much more prepared for the show and he is not much surprised with his heroics.
