Al Ahly coach Hossam el Badry has quit his job after his team suffered a shock 2-0 defeat away to Kampala Capital City Authority of Uganda in the Caf Champions League group phase on Tuesday.

His resignation was contained in a statement by the Egyptian club that has won the competition a record eight times.

Uganda Premier League champions KCCA FC on Tuesday pulled out a stunner when they beat Egypt's giants Al Ahly SC by 2-0 at Mandela National stadium, Nambole during game day two of the 2018 CAF Champions League.

Prior to the game, all odds were against KCCA FC and their fans were craving for at least a draw but they were rather paid in full with not just one but two unanswered goals.

Midfield sensations Sadam Juma who also just returned from injury broke the deadlock for KCCA at the 78th minute to send the rowdy crowd into noise riot.

Skipper, Timothy Awany sealed the day for KCCA when he converted from the spot after forward Derrick Nsibambi was fouled at the penalty area.

At the early stages of the game, KCCA who had opted for the 4-3-3 formation were surprisingly all over the place and by the 17th minute, Allan Okello had set up Sadam Juma but the Egyptians were quick to react with Muhammad Shaban's thunderbolt also getting saved moments later.

At the 26th minute, KCCA had dominated talking points when custodian Charles Lukwago denied Egypt's Walid Said to slot home from the spot.

With the first half being tied at 0-0, both sides were seeking to make amendments after the break.

During the second half, KCCA FC had edged closer through Julius Poloto's headed effort which crushed into the visiting bodies before Sadam Juma and Timothy Awany 'stole' the show.

The win is KCCA's first ever in the CAF Champions League group stage history and what a way it was to earn it against the eight time champions.

KCCA FC Coach Mike Mutebi is excited with the win and is now seeking to build on this.

''It is a great result especially earning it in front of our fans was even more special but the players deserve all the credit. We now have to focus on our next game including the remaining domestic league matches,'' Mutebi noted in a post-match presser.
