Uganda's domestic top-flight football league (Uganda Premier League) champions, KCCA FC have started their CAF Champions League group stage games on low key after losing 1-0 to Botswana's side, Township Rollers on Friday in Gaborone.
In fact, KCCA had all the chances to claim the day but their forwards rued most of the chances which should have surely put the game to bed.
Hosts (Township Rollers) put themselves ahead at the half hour mark through striker Lemponye Tshireleto’s well taken goal.
Lemponye was neatly set up by winger Joel Mogorosi who caught up KCCA's backline bodies 'asleep' only for the little known forward to beat KCCA 's custodian who proved to be very helpless.
Township Rollers had posed more threat to Mike Mutebi's men towards the end of the first stanza but they could not allow another ball to hit the back of their net.
During the second half, KCCA FC plotted to level matters through surprise attacks but lady luck seemed not to be on their side.
At the 48th minute, KCCA's Muhammad Shaban would have actually leveled matters but instead was denied by the woodwork.
With just three minutes to play, KCCA again proved to be very unlucky when Julius Poloto's free kick was again put back into play by the woodwork with Derrick Nsibambi later heading it straight to the goal keeper.
The result now implies that KCCA FC settle bottom of Group A after their counterparts, Esperance of Tunisia and Egypt's Al-Ahly settled for a barren draw on the same match day.
KCCA will play their second group stage match on Tuesday, 15th May against Egyptian giants, Al Ahly at Star Times Stadium, Lugogo in a game they must win in order to keep their hopes alive.
