The Uganda National Netball team alias She Cranes on Wednesday beat their Group B rivals, Scotland 57-37 to earn redemption for the second round at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.
She Cranes started the campaign on a low key, losing 64-51 to lethal New Zealand side on game day one but regained their feet against Malawi and stung their fellow Africans 54-52 on game day two.
Coming into the clash against Scotland, Uganda wanted the win more than their rivals and having obtained mixed results in the first four games, they needed to sort out the mess in this final group stage tie.
Having beaten Wales a day before, She cranes were off the mark just moments after the onset and during the third quarter, they were already 41-30 up as they matched for a 57-37 win.
With Scotland struggling to regain territory, She Cranes led by skipper, Peace Scovia charged so high and used their physical ability to oust a feeble Scotland side.
Before this game, Uganda needed to beat Scotland with at least a 20 goal difference to oust Malawi who were breathing on their neck in quest for the second slot.
Uganda now has a safe goal difference of 39 and are cemented on the second position and since three teams qualify for the next round, they are assured of progress even if Malawi (who are the potential rivals behind them) win against Scotland later today.
Uganda has completed the group stage level with three wins and two losses.
Uganda will play against South Africa for position 5 and 6 and if they progress from this stage, they will be assured of a medal since the last four teams are assured of medals.
