The Bishop of North Ankole Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Steven Namanya has hailed the Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, Major General Muhoozi Kainerugaba for his dedication and support to youth programs including sports.
Bishop Namanya said this in Rushere, Kiruhura District yesterday during the culmination of a week-long Bishop’s Cup youth sports tournament 2017. Competitions were held in various sports disciplines such as football, netball and volleyball games with winners awarded trophies and other prizes.
“Major General Kainerugaba serves as a wonderful role model for many of our young people, not only here (Kiruhura), but throughout the country. When we invited the General over here to encourage the young people, he did not hesitate at all,” said the Bishop.
He appealed to young people to be prayerful and work hard to fulfill their God given gifts and talents which he said would positively impact on their young lives.
Major General Kainerugaba, who was represented by his staff officer for civil military relations, Maj. MacDans Kamugira in his message encouraged the youth to embrace sports games which he pointed out would ensure they led healthy and physically fit lifestyles.
“Sport contributes to healthy living, teamwork and character formation. You should therefore strive to maintain physical fitness throughout your lives,” said General Kainerugaba.
The General thanked the Bishop of North Ankole Diocese and his team for organizing the annual youth program, which he said was good for the youth in the area.
Maj. Kamugira congratulated the participants and urged them to remain committed to the church, support their parents and work to improve and conserve the environment in which they lived.
