The embattled Uganda Premier League outfit Sports Club Villa alias 'The Jogoos' on Friday announced former Uganda Cranes interim coach Moses Basena as the team's Head Coach replacing Wasswa Bossa who joined Soana FC after last season's outings.
Basena had a fair performance with the Uganda Cranes team during the World Cup Qualifiers and missed narrowly on the National team's full-time job that was later given to French man Sebastien Desabre.
Basena who is also a former player at Nsambya based club brings in wealth of experience to this troubled team that has so far been deserted by over a dozen of players.
SC Villa who so far have an interim committee headed by William Nkemba after the resignation of Club President Ben Misagga released a statement regarding Basena on Friday night.
“The Committee is currently involved in a series of meetings and key among which is setting up a new technical team. It is on this note that we announce the appointment of Mr. Moses Basena as the new head coach of Sports Club Villa,” read the official statement released by Joseph Kizito who is the club Communication Secretary on the Committee.
Basena who once coached the same team has so far coached various clubs including his role as the interim coach of the Uganda Cranes, URA FC, Saints FC, KCCA FC, UPDF FC and Tanzania's Simba FC.
He comes to the 'Jogoos' side still fresh from the United States of America Coaching Course that saw him spend over a fortnight and managed to meet key football icons.
Basena who is set to start training next week will first have to assemble a 'sober' team after the exodus of major players that was accelerated by club administrative wrangles.
