Cranes have made an immediate return to the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon next year after securing a 1-0 win over Cape Verde at the Nelson Mandela stadium, Namboole.

The Cranes came into today’s game as one of only two sides that are yet to concede a goal after four games of the qualifiers.

The Cranes goal was scored by Patrick Kaddu in the second half.

President Museveni was among the first Ugandans to congratulate the national team.

"Congratulations to Uganda Cranes for not only defeating Cape Verde this evening at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole but also qualifying for the Africa Nations Cup 2019 in Cameroon. Thanks to the coach, football management and the fans for rallying behind the team," tweeted the president.
