Vipers SC are on a mission to confirm their title credentials. A 2-0 win against Onduparaka on Tuesday at the Kintede St Mary's Stadium was a message to SC Villa and KCCA that Miguel Da Costa's charges are set to deliver heroic win during this Uganda Premier League campaign.
A Moses Waiswa’s inspired Vipers alias The Venoms put two past Onduparaka just before the break to move joint second on the table.
Half time goals from Kasira and and Ssekisambu were enough to silence the Caterpillars who were tempting to attack will full blazing cylinders.
''The win is so important for us and it is an indication that we are aiming for the title,'' Vipers coach Miguel Da Costa said.
Miguel also noted that it is too early to name the favourite outfits to claim the title since it now seems to be a three-man race (Villa, KCCA and Vipers).
At Muteesa II stadium, Wankulukuku, Express managed to edge blunt BUL FC with two goals.
After dropping points on match day 16, URA FC this time picked an important 1-0 win against Bright Stars FC thanks to a goal from Shafiq Kagimu.
Kirinya Jinja SSS are continuing with their impressive run and after beating Proline 1-0 in Lugogo, they again went ahead and put two goals past Police FC on match day 17.
Proline FC seem to be in trouble after again losing 1-0 to relegation bound UPDF FC despite wearing pre-match favourite tags prior to the game.
Mbarara City FC and Soana FC settled for a barren stalemate in Mbarara town.
Big this week is the clash between KCCA FC and SC Villa at the Star Times Stadium in Lugogo slated for this Thursday.
