Uganda Premier League defending champions Vipers Sports Club have unveiled their former gaffer Edward Golola as the new interim head coach.
Golola will be making his third stint at the Kitende based outfit after the club relieved Mexican-born Javier Martinez of his duties last week.
Golola is to join other new technical staff recruits that assumed offices after the shake-up following Martinez’s axing.
He is delighted to be back home and hopes that Vipers will regain their former status.
‘’I am happy to be back where I belong and I think it is like the beginning of a new era. Do I have a different personality? No, but for sure I have a different approach and perspective,’’ Golola told the club website on Sunday.
Golola also revealed that Vipers have a strong history and hence should be the team to win in the top tier.
‘’I was able to achieve success and win trophies with this team. I have to believe in that, I am back because we feel we are in the best moments though there is a little meltdown which we are going to work on to help the club succeed,’’ Golola added.
Golola led Vipers to two premier league trophies; 2009/2010 and 2014/15 season and was also assistant coach last season when Miguel Da Costa led the team to glory.
Other interim technical staff appointed recently are Michael Ouma, Edward Ssali and Ram Nyakana Mpuga. The team will be working closely together to ensure that the club regains respect from rivals.
Vipers are currently second on the Uganda Premier League table with 26 points, seven behind leaders KCCA FC but with two games to spare.
