Bank of Uganda (BoU) has announced a massive staff reshuffle that has seen several executive directors, directors and other staff dropped and others transferred.
In the communique released on February 07, 2018, BoU Governor Emmanuel Mutebile announced that the staff transfers and appointments that has affected over 20 staff takes immediate effect.
Notable among the appointments and transfers is the dropping of Justine Bagyenda as Executive Director Supervision and elevation of Dr. Tumubweine Twinemanzi to the same position.
According to Mutebile’s letter, BoU is processing Bagyenda’s handover pending retirement. Bagyenda’s name was cited in the ongoing court battle between BoU and city tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia over the closure of Crane Bank.
Dr. Tumubweine has been working with Uganda Communications Commission as its Director Industry Affairs and Content (Economic Affairs).
Mutebile has also transferred Christine Alupo from director of Communication to director of Board Affairs. Alupo has been replaced by Charity Mugumya who has been deputy director, Operations.
This reshuffle comes hardly a few weeks after President Yoweri Museveni sacked Bank of Uganda (BoU) member of board of directors Ibrahim Kabanda, replacing him with Josephine Okui Ossiya, who is working as Chief Finance Officer at Bujagali Energy Limited. Museveni also renewed the contracts of other board members who were successfully vetted and appointed by the parliamentary committee on Appointments last week.
