SuperSport viewers on DStv can look forward to seeing Ultimate Fighting Championship action as UFC 270 takes centre stage at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California on the morning of Sunday 23 January 2022.

SuperSport is your #HomeOfSport and the ultimate destination for fans of Mixed Martial Arts action.

Cameroon’s Francis Ngannou will look to re-establish himself as the undisputed heavyweight world champion when he faces Ciryl Gane in the main event of UFC 270.

Ngannou (16-3) became the heavyweight champ with an impressive KO of Stipe Miocic at UFC 260 in March of last year – a fifth straight win (all by KO or TKO within two rounds) for the Batie-born 35-year-old.

Gane (10-0), meanwhile, continued his stellar rise and claimed the interim heavyweight title with a third-round TKO win over Derrick Lewis at UFC 265 in August of last year. This has set him a path to face Ngannou for the undisputed championship, with the fighters very familiar with one another after being teammates at MMA Factory under coach Fernand Lopez.

Gane says he will be able to “manage the power” of ‘The Predator’, who has established a reputation of being able to turn out the lights of even the toughest opponents with just one punch.

“I think Francis did a lot these last years, and he probably improved and he’s more intelligent and that’s really great,” the Frenchman said. “He’s really well-rounded now, and I think it’s going to be more like that, because he knows I can manage the power. I think he knows I can manage the power. So maybe he should be a smart fighter.”

The co-main event is another title bout and sees Brandon Moreno (19-5-2) and Deiveson Figueiredo (20-2-1) battle for the flyweight world championship.

The pair have met twice already: they fought to a draw at UFC 256, before Moreno took the title off Figueiredo with a submission win at UFC 263 in June 2021. The Mexican is hoping to beat his rival again and fully embrace being the best in the flyweight division.

“Figueiredo is my best sponsor ever,” Moreno cheekily explained in reference to how much money he will end up making after a trilogy against the Brazilian. “I never had another sponsor like Figueiredo. He’s paying my house, he’s paying my car, so we can do it again.”

The rest of the main card is made up of a featherweight clash between Movsar Evloev and Ilia Topuria, as well as a bantamweight opener between Cody Stamann and Said Nurmagomedov.

No rival can compete with SuperSport’s coverage. Our viewers on DStv can see all their favourite fighters from the African continent and around the world strutting their stuff in the UFC.
