Central African Republic President Begins Three-Day Visit to Uganda

President Faustin-Archange Touadéra of the Central African Republic has arrived in Uganda for a three-day official visit at the invitation of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. The visit commenced on October 8, 2024, with President Touadéra participating in Uganda's 62nd Independence Day celebrations in Busia.

Upon his arrival, President Touadéra was warmly received at State House, Entebbe, by President Museveni and other senior Ugandan officials. The two leaders held cordial discussions, focusing on key bilateral, regional, and international issues, particularly emphasizing the importance of peace, security, and stability in their respective nations and beyond.

The leaders also reaffirmed their countries' strong ties and the value of ongoing exchange visits between senior officials. They highlighted the need to strengthen economic cooperation for mutual benefit, with a focus on untapped natural resources. They directed their respective ministries to explore collaboration in sectors such as agriculture, education, energy, and mineral development to boost socio-economic progress.

Military cooperation and the Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (DDR) of former Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) fighters were also discussed, alongside advancements in education and student exchange programs.

President Museveni expressed his gratitude for President Touadéra's visit and the fruitful discussions. In turn, President Touadéra thanked the Ugandan people for their warm hospitality and invited President Museveni to visit the Central African Republic, an invitation Museveni accepted, with a date to be arranged.

This visit marks a step toward deepening the relationship between the two nations, with a focus on peace, security, and sustainable development.
