Charlie Lubega Puts Iconic Club Guvnor up for Sale

Charlie Lubega has officially announced that Club Guvnor, formerly known as Ange Noir Discotheque, is up for sale.

“If there are any young entrepreneurs out there interested in running a competitive nightlife business, Guvnor is up for sale,” Lubega revealed during the PSFU NextGen 2024 event where the keynote speaker was South African entrepreneur, author, and businessman Vusi Thembekwayo.

The announcement was shared by the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, December 6. In May this year, Club Guvnor, located on 1st Street Industrial Area, Jinja Road, revealed plans to cease Saturday night operations due to a sharp decline in business. “Guvnor Uganda informs its patrons that owing to a sharp drop in business, we are ceasing Saturday night operations starting June 2024,” the statement read.

The club clarified that it would remain available for hire on Saturdays for private events such as parties, concerts, product launches, and presentations. The venue is also open for bookings on other days of the week, except Fridays.

Despite the many challenges facing the nightclub industry across the globe, Club Guvnor has been among the few remaining venues that continued operations.
