Entebbe Expressway Users to Pay up to Sh18, 000
Motorists using the Kampala-Entebbe Expressway will soon have to part with some cash ranging between sh3,000 and sh18,000 per trip depending on the type of vehicle.
The new plan that has been in the pipeline was revealed on Tuesday in Kajjansi near Entebbe during the launch of stakeholder engagements on tolling operations along the expressway. The money will be collected by French Company - Egis on behalf of the government of Uganda.
The road has been in use - free of charge - for the last four years.
The function was graced by the French ambassador to Uganda, Jules-Armand Aniambossou, works and transport minister Gen. Katumba Wamala, Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) executive director Allen Kagina, MPs and Egis officials as well as security and local leaders.
The Kampala-Entebbe Expressway has been gazetted as a toll road and the following fees (inclusive of 18% VAT) will apply:
