Ministry of Finance has Tuesday announced the release of funds for the first quarter of the new Financial Year 2021/2022.
While announcing the media, Deputy Secretary to the Treasury at the Ministry of Finance, Patrick Ocailap revealed that Shs5,673.28billion has been released, representing 25% of the approved National Budget. In May, Parliament approved a shs44.7 trillion budget for the 2021/2022 financial year.
According to Ocailap, the release for the first quarter has catered for requirement to increase nurses and midwives lunch allowances (Shs 32.3 billion) and operationalisation of cancer reference laboratory (Shs 7.3 billion).
He added that a supplementary of Shs206 billion will also cater for provision of oxygen, logistics, infrastructure which includes beds, ICUs and HDUs.
Other key expenditures include; Local Governments grants (Shs578bn), domestic arrears (Shs435.4bn), Health institutions (Shs373bn), UNRA (250.1bn), Uganda Road Fund (Shs74.87bn), SAGE (Shs30.3bn), UWEP (Shs7.3bn), Emyooga (Shs50bn) etc.
