Five Division Commanders Promoted to Major General

The Uganda People's Defence Forces have announced the promotion of five Brigadier Generals to the rank of Acting Major General. This announcement was made in a December 11 statement by Brigadier General Felix Kulayigye, the Director of Defence Public Information.

Those promoted are Brigadier General Stephen Mugerwa, who currently serves as the Commander of the 1st Infantry Division of the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF), and Brigadier General Paul Muhanguzi, the Commander of the 2nd Infantry Division.

Brigadier Generals Felix Busizori and Keith Katungi, the Commanders of the 4th Infantry Division and 5th Infantry Division respectively, have also been promoted. 

Sources told this reporter that the promotions are in line with the new UPDF establishment that seeks to align appointments with corresponding ranks.
