Former IGP Kisembo Burial for Sunday-Police

In a message sent out on Friday afternoon by Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango, a requiem mass for the for the former IGP will be held at Our Lady of Africa Church Mbuya tomorrow (Saturday) beginning at 8am before the body is taken to Kagadi district for burial.

Former Inspector General of Police John Kisembo will be buried on Sunday at his ancestral home in Kitema, Kagadi district, the police have announced.

Kisembo died on Thursday afternoon at Platinum Hospital Kampala, in what the police described as “sudden and unexpected passing.” In a message sent out on Friday afternoon by Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango, a requiem mass for the for the former IGP will be held at Our Lady of Africa Church Mbuya tomorrow (Saturday) beginning at 8am before the body is taken to Kagadi district for burial.

Kisembo (64) was Inspector General of Police from 1999-2001. He was replaced by now State Minister for Works, Gen Katumba Wamala. At the time of his death, Kisembo was the Acting Director for the United Nations Institute for the Prevention of Crime and Treatment of Offenders. The police have hailed the fallen IGP for his excellent leadership.

“The late was IGP from the year 1999 to 2001, and we will never forget the excellent leadership he gave to the Uganda Police Force during the many years he served,” said police spokesperson Fred Enanga in a statement issued shortly after the former IGP’s passing on Thursday. Enanga announced that the former IGP will be given a befitting send off.

“The IGP has further tasked the Director Welfare and Production to work with the family to ensure he (Kisembo) is honoured in a way befitting his life and position in the UPF,” he said.
