The Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations and Commander UPDF Land Forces Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has hailed Busoga and in particular, Jinja for being the 'Pearl of Uganda'.

Much as Uganda has been dubbed the Pearl of Africa,  first by Winston Churchill 1908, according to Gen Kainerugaba, Jinja in Busoga subregion is the Pearl of Uganda for it's several beautiful iconic sites and talent development.

He cited a number of talented people in various sports disciplines including SC Villa's Hakim Magumba, athlete Ronald Musagala, Steven Bogere and Alex Isabirye who was footballer of the year in 2003 among others.
