The Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba is in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where the government there invited him to discuss matters of mutual interest.
According to his office, Gen Kainerugaba held meetings with several UAE government officials in the Capital, Abu Dhabi.
Gen Kainerugaba who also visited Abu Dhabi in July last year was this time accompanied by his wife Charlotte.
Following his July visit, Gen Kainerugaba hosted officials from the UAE government at one of his offices in Entebbe in September 2022. After the meeting, the Ugandan General said this was a follow up meeting after his initial meeting in the West Asia country.
"Today, was happy to meet representatives of the UAE government. Follow up on meetings we had in Abu Dhabi in July. I thank them for their visit," Gen Kainerugaba tweeted then.
Uganda and UAE have over the years enjoyed cordial bilateral relations. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2007, both countries have maintained robust and evolving ties. Uganda opened its Embassy in Abu Dhabi in 2007, while the UAE embassy was opened in Kampala in 2011.
After his initial visit in July 2022, Gen Kainerugaba hailed a meeting with counterterrorrism experts.
"With counterterrorism experts in Abu Dhabi (UAE) last week exchanging views. UPDF is respected all over the world because of our great work in Operation Shujaa," Gen Kainerugaba tweeted after his visit.
