The Inspector General of Police Martin Okoth Ochola has directed Police Director of Engineering and Logistics AIGP Godfrey Bangirana to leave office.

In a letter dated July 19, 2019, the IGP ordered Bangirana to handover office today, Monday July 22. Ochola told Bangirana that his contract expired and it is yet to be renewed. “Records available indicate that your contract that was renewed on 17th July, 2017, expired on 16th July, 2019,” he said.

He added that although Bangirana had applied to the Police Authority Secretary for contract renewal, it has not been renewed yet. “While we wait the decision of the Police Authority, it’s only proper that you handover office to SCP Richard Edyegu, who is one of the Deputy Directors in the Directorate,” the IGP directed, warning that Bangirana’s continued stay in office could be queried by the Head of Public Service.

The letter is copied to among others, the Minister of Internal Affairs. Bangirana is considered one of the senior police officers, having served the Uganda Police Force for decades in different departments.
