MAMA Kampala 2021: Ugandan Artistes Compete for Listeners’ Choice Award
As the MTV Africa Music Awards Kampala 2021 draw near, artistes from across Africa, including Uganda are battling for a category dubbed Listeners’ Choice award, where each country will send one musician for the final competition.
20 musicians are expected to face off in the final round and the best will receive the award at the finale on February 20.
The Listeners’ Choice award is a very popular, fan-focused category that gives music lovers across Africa an opportunity to vote for one nominee to represent their country at the MAMAs.
Voting will be done through the MAMA website.
In Uganda, the musicians that are vying for the final round are B2C, Winnie Nwagi, Pallaso, Slick Stuart and Roja and John Blaq.
Voting for the shortlisted candidates closes on January 9.
“The artist with the most votes will be placed into the official Pan African MTV Africa Music Awards Kampala 2021 Listeners’ Choice category for fans to vote for the ultimate winner across Africa,” reads an official statement.
“The winner will be revealed during the Broadcast of the MAMA on 20 February.”
Voting for Listeners’ Choice award is currently ongoing.
“Music Fans in Uganda should simply tweet & tag one of the participating radio stations (@882SanyuFM & @CapitalFMUganda) and @MTVMamas including the unique hashtag (#‘Artist Name’4MAMA) and to cast a vote,” reads the statement.
